Actors Arjun Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor are on a busy schedule wrapping up the last leg shooting of their upcoming film Half Girlfriend. While the two keep their fans excited with the images and behind-the-scenes sneak-peek from the sets, the more exciting part will be to see how Mohit Suri will shape the film on the celluloid. The film, which is an adaptation of author Chetan Bhagat’s book by the same name, will have Arjun and Shraddha teaming up and romancing for the first time onscreen. Bhagat, who is also the co-producer of the film is equally thrilled too. And why not? After all, it is his fifth book which will have a Bollywood film on it.

In an exclusive chat with indianexpress.com, author Chetan Bhagat explained why Half Girlfriend was special. “Half Girlfriend is going great and only 20 days are left for its shoot. The crew is keeping the vision of the film in relation to the book. Mohit (Suri) is great at his job. Being a producer gives me the chance to be more close to the film and it also takes me back to my banking days”, he said.
Bhagat has been lucky to have a trail of successful novels and the films adapted from his books. From One Night @ the Call Center to Half Girlfriend, every story has found a life on silver screen. Most of them have been highly successful at the box office too. Infact, Kai Po Che, which was based on The 3 Mistakes of My Life, received a lot of critical acclaim too. And now with Half Girlfriend, Bhagat has turned producer and is extremely excited about it. “I believe in giving the directors their freedom of how they turn an excerpt from the book into a scene. As a producer, I just keep in mind to get a good director on board. But I am sure I am not going to take up directing, ” he said.
