It is a battle of muscle v/s romance this week at the box-office with Sunny Deol’s Ghayal Once Again clashing with the love filled Sanam Teri Kasam.
Ghayal Once Again marks the return of Sunny Deol as the angry Ajay Mehra, a role that brought him much success and accolades in the prequel, Ghayal. This time, however, the story is set in 2015 and deals with the kidnapping of his daughter and Sunny’s fight to rescue her. The film will see Sunny Deol back in his top action form, throwing punches and mouthing loud heart tugging dialogues something that he has long relished doing onscreen. The plot looks fast paced and suspense filled which could keep viewers hooked on to their seats. (Read: I will talk about my son Karan Deol’s debut after ‘Ghayal Once Again’ releases, Sunny)
On the flip side, the movie is heavily dependent on Sunny Deol as there are no other known greatly known faces in the movie except Soha Ali Khan. The absence of an intimidating villain like the late Amrish Puri and a missing romantic storyline not to forget the absence of an A-list actress unlike the prequel will be sorely felt. But one can always count on Sunny Deol to deliver the goods in his action-packed avatar. (Also read: ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’ appears to be different film: Hema Malini)
Sanam Teri Kasam is riding high on its strong music and sizzling chemistry generated by the debutantes, Harshvardhan Rane and Pakistani actress Mawra Hocane. The movie bears a fresh look and is tailor-made to attract the country’s youth.
The USP of the movie undoubtedly lies in its lead pair. While Harshvardhan has made his mark in the southern cine world, Mawra is the fresh Pakistani import who is all set to dazzle in Bollywood. Given her legion of fans back in Pakistan and also in India, Sanam Teri Kasam is likely to get a decent opening. The rest would depend on how good and youthful the love story is.
For the moment, Sunny Deol’s Ghayal Once Again seems to have got a slight edge over Sanam Teri Kasam sheerly because of the macho man’s star power.
