Two days before the release of Rohit Dhawan’s film Dishoom, IndianExpress.com caught up with ‘buddy cops’ John Abraham and Varun Dhawan in Delhi. And all the stories you have been hearing about their dostana? Every single one of them is true.
All fun and full of energy — similar to the character they are about to serve their audiences with — Varun and John are in the middle of a raging bromace. In fact, the superb chemistry between John and Varun is what Dishoom audience should watch out for. “We would love to work together again and will definitely look at another venture together,” said John while Varun was actually sad that they get to spend only two more days together as the Dishoom promotions are about to finish.
While the actors were busy showcasing their bromance, they also talked about Varun’s Spider-man kiss and his crazy dance moves with Parineeti Chopra. Varun, however, pointed out that his famous kiss was not as effortless as it appeared. “The Spider-man kiss was indeed a difficult one and needed a lot of practice.”
Talking about Dishoom, both said the film is not a comedy but an action-adventure. However, they promise that the characters and how they portray them will certainly entertain the audiences. We have seen Varun doing lighter characters and so has John. In Dishoom too, the promos showcase Varun’s natural flair for comedy. “Tu Munna Bhai hoga lekin main Circuit nahi hoon … tu Batman hoga lekin main Birdman nahi hoon … tu hero hoga lekin ab main bhi hero hoon.” Yes! this is what we talking about.
Varun said he wants to experiment with every genre and not limit himself . “I did Main Tera Hero then Badlapur and then suddenly a dance film, ABCD2. I then did a Rohit Shetty film, Dilwale. I would want to dabble through genres because it is exciting for me. If I keep repeating the same genre I would get bored.” Having said that, Varun’s comic timing is always in the news and he has even been compared with Govinda. “I just want to be a better version of me and not anyone else. I want to enjoy my work and serve all with laughter. I also do not want to stick to comedy but I am open to all roles that a director can imagine me in.”
Varun will be seen in search of a bride in the film. He is seen with two actresses, Jacqueline Fernandez and Parineeti in a cameo role. John unfortunately got no leading lady. “I am very angry and upset in the film as I am dumped by my girlfriend. She was cheating on me and Varun is seen enjoying all this. My heart is broken and Varun is having fun at this as he keeps telling people that I have been dumped.”
