CBFC clears ‘Udta Punjab’ trailer without any cut

Anurag Kashyap has thanked CBFC chief Pahlaj Nihalani for clearing the expletive-laden trailer of his upcoming production venture “Udta Punjab” without a single cut.

The “Gangs of Wasseypur” director, who has always faced the wrath of the Central Board of Film Certification for his bold movies, said he was surprised to see the move.

“Pleasantly surprised and thankful to the CBFC for seeing the UDTA PUNJAB trailer in the context and clearing it without a single cut. Big one. (Read: Udta Punjab trailer: Watch Alia Bhatt, Shahid Kapoor in a never seen avatar)

“Having cursed the CBFC always for there overzealous attitude ,must credit them where it’s due. Thank you Mr Nihalani,hoping it continues,” he posted on Twitter.

The crime thriller’s trailer was launched yesterday in Mumbai in the presence of makers and starcast including Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Diljit Dosanjh.

Directed by Abhishek Chaubey, the film releases on June 17.
