The much-awaited sequel of Rock On will finally open on cinema screens across India on Friday. The movie which made Farhan Akhtar an actor and also gave a new lease of life to Arjun Rampal by helping him clinch him the National Award is still etched in the minds of moviegoers and music aficionados as that rare movie which combined band music with an engrossing plot. The movie won both critical and commercial acclaim and it’s no surprise that in this season of sequels and franchise movies, the makers have decided to spin out part two of Rock On. Let’s see how well poised Rock On 2 looks to fare at the box-office.

The biggest plus point of Rock On 2 is the stellar star cast of part one that has been retained in the sequel as well. Adding additional star power this time is Shraddha Kapoor who has already created quite a buzz courtesy her brilliant singing prowess in the movie.
The plot of the movie revolves around two different generations- the older one comprising of Farhan and co — and the younger one consisting of Shraddha and others. The movie has majorly been shot in Meghalaya and one will be treated to some astounding visuals from the scenic state. It would be an interesting affair to watch the senior actors plying their wares with the younger lot.

Unfortunately, the music has not really caught the imagination of the public unlike Rock On. One could call it the Ae Dil Hai Mushkil effect given the fact that Karan Johar’s musical still continues to reign supreme on charts. But as Arjun Rampal told us in the interview the music will catch post the release of the film, we too are willing to wait and give it a chance.
Rock On 2 will sorely miss the services of Abhishek Kapoor who directed part one. The sequel has been helmed by Shujaat Saudagar and it remains to be seen how well he has handled the reins.
The movie will open on an average of six to eight screens per multiplex which is a decent number. Combine that with no great competition at the box-office and you have a winner in hand in the form of Rock On 2. Comparisons with part one will be obvious and one will have to wait and watch if the sequel will break all records both critically ad well as commercially.
