Rajkummar Rao’s latest film ‘Newton’, which is also India’s official entry to Oscars this year, is on the up and up at the box office. Though the film opened poorly with only Rs 96 lakhs, it has managed to show some tremendous growth.

Tarde guru Taran Adarsh shared the latest box office figures of ‘Newton’. He posted, “#Newton had a WONDERFUL Week 1… The SUPER growth over the weekend and STEADY trending on weekdays helped put up a GOOD total…” This is a happy news for Rajkummar Rao, his fans and the makers too.

Taran also shared the day-wise collection details of the film. “#Newton Fri 96 lakhs, Sat 2.52 cr, Sun 3.42 cr, Mon 1.31 cr, Tue 1.34 cr, Wed 1.18 cr, Thu 1.10 cr. Total: ₹ 11.83 cr. India biz,” tweeted Taran.

Released on September 22, ‘Newton’, revolves around a government clerk who tries his best to conduct free and fair voting in a Naxalite area. The film also stars Pankaj Tripathi and Raghubir Yadav.

Rajkummar Rao lost his mother while he was in the midst of shooting ‘Newton’, and in a recent interview he said the blessings of his “guiding star” are taking him places.” Whatever good is happening with ‘Newton’ is because of my mom’s blessings. I really believe in that,” said the actor.

‘Newton’ had a world premiere at the 67th Berlin International Film Festival, where it won the Art Cinema award in the Forum segment. It also bagged a jury prize for Best Film at the Hong Kong International Film Festival.
