Much like how it had been predicted by trade gurus, Sonakshi Sinha and Sidharth Malhotra starrer Ittefaq had an average opening of Rs 4.01 crore. The day two of the film saw 35.80% growth in its business and thus the total box office collection of Ittefaq by day 2 is of Rs 9.55 crore.

Taran Adarsh shared the latest figures of the film and tweeted, “#Ittefaq shows an UPWARD TREND on Sat… 35.80% growth… Sun should be stronger… Fri 4.05 cr, Sat 5.50 cr. Total: ₹ 9.55 cr. India biz.”

“Ittefaq is a word-of-mouth film and they have promoted it very smartly. I feel it should open somewhere around Rs 3 or Rs 3.5 crore mark. It can also make Rs 4 crore. The trailer of the film has already garnered a lot of publicity and now if the content of the film turns out to be worthy, it is sure to make Rs 13 to Rs 15 crore or even more by the first weekend,” movie business expert Girish Johar had told indianexpress.com earlier.

Considering the fact that the film had managed to create enough suspense with its trailer, it is likely that Ittefaq may register a good collection by the time it completes its first weekend at the box office. The film has to compete with the Hollywood release Thor: Ragnarok and the earlier Bollywood release Golmaal Again. Both the films are doing good business at the box office.

Film critic Shubhra Gupta who gave the movie a 3 stars rating said in her review,” Both Malhotra and Sinha start off a tad shaky, and then steady up. Khanna, who deadpans his way through the best lines in the film, is clearly having a blast. There are small touches of fresh humour, and enough suspense to keep things ticking over. And there’s real surprise in the big reveal. Ittefaq is that rare Bollywood creature: a smart, gripping whodunit which keeps us guessing.”
