Three Hindi films will open at the box-office today namely Azhar, Buddha In A Traffic Jam and Dear Dad and it’s not too difficult to guess which one will grab maximum eyeballs. Azhar, the official Bollywood biopic of one India’s most controversial cricketing figures, Mohammed Azharuddin has been released in the IPL season and producer Ekta Kapoor would be hoping to see cricket fanatics flock cinema screens to learn more about the man who many believe has been wronged for no fault of his.
Azhar starring Emraan Hashmi, Prachi Desai and Nargis Fakhri in lead roles will tell the untold story of Azhar, the match-fixing allegations that ruined his career and his scandalous personal life. With Emraan Hashmi essaying the lead role and siren Nargis Fakhri playing Sangeeta Bijlani, Azhar is as commercial as any other Bollywood movie. Add to that the spicy potboiler ingredients involving controversy and sex, you have a potential commercial money spinner in hand.
The movie has managed to grab maximum screen numbers in cinema screens across India. Considering that Azhar was quite popular in the middle east, one can expect the movie to open well in the Emirates too. For Emraan, the movie will prove to be a litmus test. After delivering eight flops in a row, the actor would be hoping to make a thunderous comeback with Azhar.
Buddha In A Traffic Jam and Dear Dad(the comeback film of Arvind Swamy) have not exactly managed to create any sort of buzz in the market yet. With sparse screen numbers in their favour, it remains to be seen how much moolah both these films would rake in.
