The phenomenon of Arvind Kejriwal swept the streets of Delhi in 2013 when he formed the Aam Aadmi Party. It was during 2013’s Vidhan Sabha elections that Arvind was even elected as the CM of the capital but since then, his journey has seen several ups and downs. With a story that has as many varied points of view, it was only a matter of time before a film was made on the subject.
Directors Khushboo Ranka and Vinay Shukla’s documentary on Arvind Kejriwal, ‘An Insignificant Man’, tells the story that is still fresh in people’s minds. From the uprising of the party that had all the popular votes, to members breaking out of the party and even getting involved in corruption cases, the trailer of the documentary gives an insight into all the high points that have been a significant part of Kejriwal’s public life. The trailer looks like it won’t be a one-sided affair but will include opinions of opposition, his party loyalists who later left AAP and even the aam aadmi for whom this party was made in the first place.
This documentary has already been screened at 50 film festivals across the world including Toronto International Film Festival, Busan International Film Festival amongst many others.
The documentary tries to capture the recent history in a way that makes us want to revisit the journey of the political party that we all saw in its inception. From being the party that was made to fight against the monster of corruption to the party whose actions have now come under harsh scrutiny, this film tries to capture it all.
‘An Insignificant Man’ releases in theaters on November 17.
