Amitabh Bachchan has started shooting for the third instalment of the popular franchise, Sarkar. The 74-year-old says the movie by maverick filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma is intriguing and unpredictable. “First day of Sarkar 3! Larger, intriguing and oh so unpredictable,” Big B tweeted on October 18 night. The Pink star also shared that there were “apprehensions on the first day of shoot”. “An entirely new environ, an entirely new set up, even if the designs of the story and characters have been indulged well in the past.. happens all the time. And yet, we never stop speaking about it,” he shared on his blog.
“The director knows best and we leave it to him and his vision… that is really the best way out,” he added. The cine icon had played an integral part in the first two instalments of the film. Sarkar, which released in 2005, is set up in the world of Indian politics. Its sequel Sarkar Raj hit the screens in 2008. Sarkar 3 will see Amitabh reprising his role as Subhash Nagre. Even Ram Gopal Varma took to his Twitter account to announce that every information will be available on a website he has created for Sarkar 3, to take this film to another level.
On the homepage of the website, RGV has spoken about his vision for the film and how he aspired to create a character which is bigger than anything Big B has ever played. “When I made my first SARKAR, the principal motivation for me was to create a character more powerful than Mr.Bachchan ever performed. Sarkar is not just about the physical aspects of power, but it is also about an ultra quiet intensity in how he demonstrates it,” he wrote.
Later, he also added, “I frankly can imagine GODFATHER without a BRANDO but I believe that Amitabh Bachchan is the only actor who possesses the kind of magnetism and charisma to make a character like Sarkar come alive. The mythological mystique, the physical audacity, the grace, and, above all, the anger he possesses is what has always inspired me about him and I truly believe that anger has been missing in all his films in the last decade which I want to bring back in Sarkar 3.” The film will also stars Rohini Hattangadi, Jackie Shroff, Manoj Bajpayee, Ronit Roy, Bharat Dabholkar and Yami Gautam.
