Top Bollywood stars attended the funeral of Shilpa Shetty’s father Surendra Shetty today in Mumbai. The funeral, which was held at Pawan Hans at noon, saw Bollywood biggies like Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, Salim Khan and many others rallying around the Shetty family in their moment of grief.

Surendra Shetty’s body was taken to the crematorium in an ambulance around 11.30 am from his Versova home where it was kept for family and friends to pay their last respects. Sisters Shilpa and Shamita looked inconsolable as Raj Kundra offered the mukhagni (lighting the pyre).

Akshay Kumar Akshay Kumar turned up to Shilpa Shetty’s father cremation to pay last homage.

All of Shilpa’s B-town friends stayed at the crematorium for more than half an hour praying for the departed soul and offering their deepest condolences to the Shetty family. One spotted prominent names such as Bunty Walia, Kishan Kumar, R Madhavan, Sanjay Kapoor, Ratan Jain, Morani Brothers, Krishika Lulla of Eros, Terrence Lewis, politician Kripashankar Singh, producer Vashu Bhagnani, Ramesh Taurani and many others.

Abhishek Bachchan Abhishek Bachchan was also spotted at Surendra Shetty cremation.

Earlier in the morning, Sophie Choudhry, politician Milind Deora, Ganesh Hegde and others paid their last respects at Shetty’s house while Arpita Khan and Raveena Tandon visited Shilpa yesterday evening.

Surendra Shetty passed away yesterday morning at his house after suffering from a heart attack. Shilpa and sister Shamita were extremely close to their father. The man himself was full of life and one could usually see him stepping out with Shilpa’s mother at social dos. Surendra was a great influence in Shilpa and Shamita’s lives, supporting the sisters to the core. Surendra also enjoyed the company of many of Shilpa’s co-stars especially Salman Khan who is known to have been quite close to the senior Shetty.
