It was real fireworks at the box office during the Diwali weekend. While of the biggest films — Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Shivaay — clashed at the box office, one has managed to come out with flying colours. Ae Dil hai Mushkil, which was caught in a major controversy flew from the cuckoo’s nest and is now minting money at the ticket counters.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, “#ADHM passes the non-holiday test… Fri 13.30 cr, Sat 13.10 cr, Sun 9.20 cr, Mon 17.75 cr, Tue 13.03 cr, Wed 7.63 cr. Total: ₹ 74.01 cr.”
Internationally also, the film is going great guns. Adarsh wrote, “#ADHM crosses $ 7 million [₹ 46.67 cr] in the international arena on Tue. FAB!”
While the film nears Rs 100 crore, fans are happy to see Ranbir Kapoor returning with a hit after almost an entire year. His Tamasha which opened in November 2015, had received mixed reviews. So ADHM is exactly the hit that RK needed for a long time.
Ae Dil Hai Mushkil has been directed by Karan Johar. It collected Rs. 13.3 crore on its opening day on Friday. Five days and it is staying strong at the box office. By Wednesday it had managed to earn Rs. 74.01 crore. The film also stars Anushka Sharma, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and has Fawad Khan in an important cameo.
While Shivaay is keeping its hold at the small centres, ADHM is ruling the multiplexes. Ae Dil Hai Mushkil also marks the return of KJo as a director after 2012 film Student Of the Year. The audience is also awestruck to see Aish in a super glamorous avatar in the film, after her deglam roles in her last two films — Jazbaa and Sarbjit.
With no major release at the Bollywood box office, it might just be a boon for both ADHM and Shivaay. But considering the KJo film is doing much better, its profit numbers are only set to grow further in the coming days.
