Superstar Aamir Khan says he wants to watch Anurag Kashyap’s “Bombay Velvet”, which opened to mixed reviews.

The much-talked ‘Bombay Velvet’ is a period crime drama based on historian Gyan Prakash’s book ‘Mumbai Fables’. Released on May 15, the film was mocked on social media.

“I haven’t seen the film yet. I had seen the trailer and it shows that a lot of hard work had gone into it. It feels sad that the film did not do well… I would still like to watch ‘Bombay Velvet’,” Aamir said in an interview here.

“When a film doesn’t work, we feel bad. There are films that work and there are some that don’t work. We should learn from these experiences,” he added.

Kashyap’s most ambitious project, “Bombay Velvet” was offered to Aamir and after a long wait of a year, he gave up on making it with the actor.

Apart from “Bombay Velvet”, there are few other films as well that Aamir said he would like to watch.

The actor, who is known to be close to superstar Salman Khan, said he is also excited to watch his “Andaz Apna Apna” co-star’s upcoming films “Prem Ratan Dhan Payo” and “Bajrangi Bhaijaan”.

“I am very excited about these big films, ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’, ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ and ‘Dilwale’. These films will surely do well. Then after long time Sooraj Barjatya’s film is coming back. ‘Dilwale’ has Kajol and Shah Rukh in it, so everyone will surely watch,” he added.

The 50-year-old actor feels big films shouldn’t hit theatres on the same day as it affects the business.

“Everyone wants open run at the box office as it is an advantage for everyone. It eats into each other’s business. We should try and have solo releases. Sometimes when it is not possible then can’t help it.. if the film is good then it will get good response,” he said.

Aamir will be seen next in Nitesh Tiwari’s “Dangal” in which he is essaying the role of a wrestler.

Talking about pressure of delivering best work wise, the “PK” star says, “Pressure is not for me to perform. The pressure is to make a good film. I want people to see my film and feel it is a great film.

“As a creative person I would want people to appreciate my work. Cinema is one medium through which you come close to people of another society. It is one medium that bridges the gap fast,” he said.

The actor who had made directorial debut with 2007 hit “Taare Zameen Par” will return as a director with “Barf”.

“‘Barf’ is an original film. There is no role for me I will only be directing it. If I direct then I can’t act,” he added.
