Panjab varsity teams excel in chess tourney

The Panjab University men’s chess team has won the second position and women’s chess team secured third position in the North Zone Inter-University Chess (Men & Women) Championship. The championship was organised by Guru Jambheshwar University (GJU), Hisar, from October 13 to 17 at Hisar.

Sunakshi Batra was the captain of the women’s chess team, which included Arshita, Romika Chopra, Shradha Seth, Himandeep Kaur and Nagish Bansal. Lovish Verma led the PU men’s chess team, which included Ankit Jain, Arjunveer Singh, Harjeet Singh, Raghav Nohria and Shubham. Vipnesh Bhardwaj accompanied the team as coach and Baljeet Kaur as manager. PU Vice-Chancellor Arun Kumar Grover has congratulated the PU chess team members, coach, manager and director (sports) Dr Parminder Singh and the staff on the achievement.
