While trying to escape, the student sustained injuries on his shoulder and arm. The assailants ran away after the victim raised an alarm and other hostel inmates came outside after hearing his screams, said a university official. BHU faculty staff too rushed to the scene, while the student was admitted to the hospital.

“Proctorial Board of BHU has registered the complaint, and we are on the job to identify the assailants,” said Ajay Kumar, Station House Officer of Lanka police station.

BHU spokesperson Dr Rajesh Singh said the injured student was treated in the trauma centre, and his condition is stable.
