A day after Delhi Police arrested the man who allegedly pushed a girl off the balcony of her second-floor house in outer Delhi’s Mangolpuri, his sister was also arrested for allegedly helping the accused, said police.

The accused, Amit, and his elder sister Manju have been booked on charges of attempt to murder. Amit had allegedly attacked Manju after she refused to marry him.

Manju allegedly helped Amit push the 23-year-old woman off the balcony after they had an argument with the victim and her family, said police. Another sister of Amit’s and his cousin were also present at the spot when the incident took place, said police.

The woman has been admitted to the Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital, where her condition is stated to be critical but stable, said doctors.
A few hours before the incident Monday, she had filed a complaint against the accused, alleging that Amit was pressuring her to marry him or pay him Rs 1 lakh.

The woman’s statement has been recorded, said a police officer, adding, “our investigations are on.”
