Domestic help held for theft at MP’s house

Delhi Police has arrested the 37-year-old cook of BJP MP Kunwar Sarvesh Kumar Singh for allegedly stealing Rs 22 lakh from his residence at Mahadev Road.

DCP (New Delhi district) B K Singh said the accused, Rajkumar alias Raju, was arrested after they received a complaint on October 9 from MP Singh’s son Kunwar Sushant Singh about the theft. “In his complaint, he informed police that someone broke the locks of his Delhi residence and stole the amount. A case was registered at Parliament Street police station,” he added.

A forensics team of the district was also called in. “Police started scanning the CCTV footage and found a man, who was seen carrying a bag on his shoulder, suspected to be the person behind the theft. He was identified by the complainant as their cook,” he said.

During questioning, Raju told police that he had been working at their residence since childhood.
