A 62-year-old woman who ran an NGO to help women file dowry cases was found murdered inside her residence in northeast Delhi’s Mansarovar Park area, said police Monday. Police suspect the involvement of someone known to the victim, Vimla Tewari.
The crime came to light Sunday evening when Tewari did not come for her evening walk. Her body was found lying on the floor of the house in Ashok Nagar Colony, said sources. Tewari lived alone, sources added.
Police recovered a rope from the crime scene and suspect it was used to strangle her. Her son, who lives with his family in the same locality, informed police about the incident. A police officer said her husband was murdered a few years ago in UP. A K Singla, DCP (northeast), said a case of murder had been registered.
