At least 24 policewomen have accused an inspector posted in the Provisioning and Logistics unit of Delhi Police of sexual harassment during duty and drawn the attention of senior officials, said police sources.

Police sources said a woman constable posted in the Provisioning and Logistics unit located at Civil Lines initially informed senior officers about the harassment by the inspector around five months ago. According to her complaint, he asked her to meet him in private and when she refused, he started harassing her. Other policewomen later came up with similar complaints against the inspector, said sources.

Sources said a complaint in this matter was sent to Police Commissioner Alok Kumar Verma in April and he forwarded it to the sexual harassment committee led by a joint commissioner-rank officer. Sources said a probe was on. A complaint in the matter had also been sent to the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW), said sources.
