A man, who allegedly abducted a six-year-old boy from his school in west Delhi’s Mundka to threaten his aunt into marrying him, has been arrested from Bihar, said police, adding that the child has been rescued.

According to police, the accused, Pintoo Kumar (25), was arrested from Devle village in Bihar’s Sheikhpura district. Initial investigation has revealed that Kumar wanted to marry the younger sister of victim’s mother. However, the woman’s family rejected his proposal. He then decided to kidnap the boy.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (west district) Pushpendra Kumar said they have arrested the accused and rescued the child in a joint operation with Bihar police.

“Kumar and the child’s father worked in the same factory in Mundka. He decided to kidnap the child as he wanted to marry the boy’s aunt. After kidnapping the child, he called the family and threatened to kill the child if his aunt did not marry him,” said the DCP.

According to police, the incident took place on September 14. The child, a Class II student II, was on his way when the accused kidnapped him.

“Kumar took the child and boarded a train to Bihar. He reached Sheikhpura on September 15. He called the child’s family and pressured them to accept his marriage proposal. The family then informed police about the incident and began search operations. With the help of technical surveillance, police traced the accused’s location at village Devle and informed Bihar police,” said the DCP.
