Local Crime Branch (LCB) of Anand district, late Saturday night, arrested 4 persons – including a woman – in connection with the alleged kidnapping and murder of a local business man’s 30-year-old son.
The deceased has been identified as Jaimin Patel (30), a resident of Aasodar village. Jaimin’s father, Aklavya, is a real estate developer and marble, tiles dealer in Anand.
The incident occurred on September 16 when four persons kidnapped Patel from Anand, and made a ransom call to Aklavya demanding Rs 2 crore. Later, they killed Patel by strangulating him and burnt his body with petrol near Vansda in Navsari district of South Gujarat.
The four arrested have been identified as Jitendra Jadeja, Hiral Jadeja, Harshad Gadhadra and Ajay Vaghela.
According to police, Jitendra and Hiral run a saree shop near Jaimin’s father’s showroom and were facing financial crunch due to loss in business. To earn quick money, Jitendra and Hiral along with Gadhadra and Vaghela conspired to kidnap Jaimin, police added.
“Based on the call details we traced the location of one of the accused and arrested Gadhadra and Vaghela from Himmatnagar, and recovered the mobile phone used in making ransom calls to the victim’s father.
