Two eve-teasers held for lynching doctor

Two persons have been arrested in connection with the Monday’s murder of a doctor by a group of eve-teasers in Barasat after he protested against the molestation of a girl.

Two persons have been arrested in connection with the Monday’s murder of a doctor by a group of eve-teasers in Barasat after he protested against the molestation of a girl.

While one of the accused,Jalaluddin,was handed over to the police by the locals soon after the doctor was hacked to death on late Monday night,Sirajul Islam,the prime accused in the case,was arrested on Tuesday from Guma area in North 24-Paraganas.

“We have arrested two of the prime accused who were named in the FIR. We have started investigating into the incident,” said Champak Bhattacharya,SP of North 24-Parganas.

Bikash Mallick (60) had opposed the two goons,who abused a woman and her daughter in the area after barging into their house. Both Jalaluddin and Sirajul were in an inebriated condition. The locality is home to five liquor shops that are frequented by the residents.

The area had witnessed another similar incident last year when Rajib Das was hacked to death by the miscreants in his attempt to save his elder sister from being molested.

Meanwhile,locals ransacked some Illicit liquor shops and set them on fire in the area alleging inaction against such dens by the local administration. SUCI and Forward Bloc have called for a 12-hour strike in the area on Wednesday protesting the rising incidents of crime incidents.
