Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav will meet Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia on July 18 to get the state annual plan for 2012-13 cleared.
The meeting between Akhilesh and Ahluwalia would be significant because after a long time the Uttar Pradesh CM would attend the Planning Commission meeting in Delhi.
Former CM Mayawati never attended these meetings and usually sent her Finance Minister Lalji Verma.
Tomorrow,senior officials of the UP government led by Chief Secretary Jawed Usmani and Planning Commission will meet to discuss the annual plan.
The state government has set a growth target of 10 per cent in the 12th five year plan with increased focus on infrastructure development,including roads,irrigation,power and industry. This would be the first year of the 12th five year plan and UP plans to place a proposal of about Rs 3.61 lakh crore for the five year plan and about Rs 56,000 crore for the first annual plan.
Meanwhile,the Planning Commission has also called a separate meeting of state power ministers on July 17,to discuss the acute fuel shortage and also financial crises faced by power distribution companies especially in states like UP,Bihar,Andhra Pradesh,etc. Sources said the Union government is planning a special package for certain states like UP as a financial support.
