Rs 1,000, gold chain snatched in two incidents; two arrested

A case was registered against the accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code at the Sector 34 police station.

TWO SNATCHING incidents were reported in the city in the last 24 hours, with the Chandigarh Police arresting two accused in one of them.
According to information available, a PCR team got a tip-off that two persons identified as Pawan and Pardeep Kumar were going towards Sector 22 in their car after snatching Rs 1,000 from a man in Sector 45 on Monday night. The PCR team followed the accused and nabbed them when they entered Sector 22. Both the accused confessed to their crime, said the police.

In the second incident, two bike-borne youths snatched away the gold chain of a woman in Sector 38-A.

According to police officials, Inderjit Singh, a resident of Sector 38-A, told the police that his wife was returning home after a morning walk on Tuesday. When she reached near house number 3554 in Sector 38-D, two youths, who were on a bike, came near her and snatched her gold chain. She raised the alarm but the snatchers managed to escape.

The police registered a case against unknown persons under sections 356 (assault or criminal force in attempt to commit theft of property carried by a person) and 279 (theft) of the Indian Penal Code at Sector 39 police station.
