Acting on the complaints of impropriety, the Punjab and Haryana High Court has put Naveen Kumar, civil judge (junior division) at Karnal, under suspension.

The High Court has fixed the reporting headquarters of the judge at Karnal during the suspension period till the outcome of the inquiry against him.

However, a senior official of the High Court confirmed that the procedure of suspension of the former Panchkula Chief Judicial Magistrate Ravneet Garg, arrested by the CBI for dowry death of his wife, is in process. CBI had arrested Garg on September 8, after a period of three years of the murder.

The officer said any government official’s detention for more than 48 hours is considered deemed suspension.
However, later a formal order of suspension is issued from the day of his arrest or detention.

Garg was booked after his wife’s body was found with four bullet injuries inside the Police Lines compound in Gurgaon on July 17, 2013.
