Against the backdrop of the recent arrests of alleged Naxal operatives in Dombivali and Pune district,Home Minister RR Patil said the state was working on strengthening the intelligence gathering systems across the state. “The link between growth of mining projects in the Naxal affected areas and increasing resources of Naxalites cannot be denied. They are now trying to spread their area of influence. We are working hard on strengthening our intelligence network.” He added,”The solution to the Naxal problem is not in the jungles of Gadchiroli, but in the rooms of Mantralaya in Mumbai. I have to confess that we have failed in implementing development projects in these natural-resource-rich areas. But we are now working on it.”
