Though the BJP has announced its Pune candidate, they are yet deliberating over Baramati as the candidate has to take on NCP chief Sharad Pawars daughter Supriya Sule. The party workers are upset over the delay as it will only delay in the campaigning process.
Senior members in the party said that they want to field candidates who were anti- Pawar in Baramati and the names doing the rounds are Mrinalini Kakade who belongs to the Kakade family which has always been against the Pawar family in Baramati,Sangita Rajenimbalkar who was former sarpanch and BJP Pune district chief and Vasudev Kale, who has been in the party and is the district worker.
A senior leader said that Mrinalani and Sangita are in the forefront, but a decision will be taken in two days time. An all women competition is what we are favouring, said a senior leader. Sule whose candidature has been formally announced has already started aggressive campaigning and is touring the constituency with the help of senior leaders. The BJP candidate has to be equallyaggressive, said a senior leader.
Meanwhile some party workers in Baramati are dejected over the delay in announcing the name with just a month left for the polling. It is only delaying our prospects for aggressive campaigning, said a worker.
