Hosts Vidya Bhavan and Sangam Football Club entered the finals of Late Madhavrao Tharkude Memorial Football Tournament for Girls,edging out their respective opponents in the semifinals played at Vidya Bhavan School Ground on Saturday.

Vidya Bhavan had to rely on a tiebreaker to beat Go Sports after regulation time ended goalless. Shalvi Gujjar,Sonal Parkhi,Nirmiti Gujrati and Tanvi Gill scored from the spot for the home team,while Maya Ingawane,Rhea Menon and Merlyn Adam were the only ones to convert their penalties for Go Sports as Vidya Bhavan wrapped up a narrow 4-3 victory to enter the finals.

In the other semifinal,Pratima Singh drew first blood for Sangam FC against Deccan XI Football Club. However,Deccan XI recovered quickly,and soon equalised through Anuja Kibe in the 38th minute.

The match went into a sudden death and Tina Dhanraj and Harshada Thorat calmly converted their spot-kicks for Sangam,while Deccan XI had to face heartbreak as they only managed to convert one of theirs through Rutuja Kibe to give Sangam FC a 3-2 overall victory.

Sangam FC and Vidya Bhavan will battle it out for the title in the finals,which will be played on Monday.
