On Friday night,Agarwal dispatched Rs 24 lakh in the van along with cashier Raju Gaikwad and driver Ramesh Chauhan. As per the statement given by Gaikwad, when they reached a secluded spot near Jai Jui Residential Society in Yerawada,Chauhan slowed down the van and lowered the glasses. An unidentified man who was standing outside, threw chilli powder at Gaikwad following which Chauhan and his accomplice fled from the spot with the bag of cash.

Assistant Police Inspector S Dubal of Yarwada police station, who is investigating the case, said,“Chauhan has been working with Agarwal for the past three-four months.
