Says Baig introduced him to Mohsin Chaudhary as a friend from Pune

In one of the most important depositions in the German Bakery blast case,a cloth trader from Udgir,Abdul Samad Indauri,identified arrested accused Mirza Himayat Baig in court and said that he had seen him at the Global Internet Cafe where the plot for the blast was hatched. He also told the court that Baig introduced absconding accused Mohsin Chaudhary to him as his friend from Pune.

The hearing of the German Bakery Blast case is currently on in the court of special judge N P Dhote.

Special public prosecutor Raja Thakre said,“This was one of most important witnesses in the case. Indauri identified Baig in court and said that he was introduced to him as Yusuf Sir. He also said that Baig introduced him to Chaudhary as his friend from Pune.”

Indauri told the court that once when he was in need of money,he had asked Khurshid Alam Sir for help. Khurshid Alam introduced Baig to him as Yusuf Sir and Baig gave Indauri the money. Indauri said he used to travel to Mumbai for business and would always take Priyanka Travels’ bus. He had booked a ticket for February 7,2010 to go Mumbai but went a day before. On February 7,Baig travelled to Mumbai on Indauri’s ticket and both stayed at Al Noor Guest House.

Thakre added,“Indauri identified signature of Baig in the entry register of the guest house. He said he met Baig and Chaudhary at a cafe and Baig introduced him as his friend from Pune. Indauri did not know their real names but when TV channels started showing photos Baig and Chaudhari he identified them.”

In his cross-examination by defence lawyer A Rehman,Indauri could not specify the date on which he had borrowed the money.
