A two-judge panel of the Bombay High Court, which is looking into the demand of setting up a High Court bench in Pune, will give a second hearing to the Pune Bar Association (PBA) delegation on October 17. The panel comprises justice D Y Chandrachud and justice S J Vazifdar.

PBA president Rajendra Umap said the delegation will make a presentation about various factors that necessitate a HC bench in Pune.

“We will try to convince them to set up a HC bench in Pune. Litigants have to come all the way from Pune and other districts of western Maharashtra to Mumbai and spend a lot on travelling. Setting up a bench in Pune will not only help the district but also other four nearby districts. Taking into account the suitable location of the city several important institutions have been set up here including a bench of Maharashtra State Cooperative Appellate Court,Western Zone bench of the National Green Tribunal,Yerwada Central Prison and Southern Command.

On September 16 the association had made a similar presentation before the two-member panel.
