The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) will organise a two-day workshop for the newly elected representatives to help them understand the functioning of the administration.
The workshop would be held on Saturday and Monday wherein the elected representatives would be invited. Around 90 of the 152 corporators are first timers in the civic body, said K C Karkar,deputy municipal commissioner.
Leader of the House Subhash Jagtap said there was a need to impart knowledge about the working of the PMC to the newly elected representatives to ensure that they understand the functioning while serving in the interest of the city. The civic issues of the city and the hurdles need to be explained to the representatives, he added.
The head of departments would be making a presentation on the working of their respective departments,he said. The workshop would be inaugurated by municipal commissioner Mahesh Pathak.
The corporators would be given information on the BPMC Act and the functioning of the civic body and various committees by municipal secretary Sunil Parkhi. Other speakers include Naresh Zurmure,additional municipal commissioner,who will talk about the garden department while Vilas Kanade,Property Tax collection officer and Hemant Nikam,octroi chief would speak on the revenue collection mechanism of the PMC.
City engineer Prashant Waghmare would speak on the development plan while the additional city engineer Vivek Kharwadkar will explain the functioning of the city engineer department. Additional municipal commissioner Dnyaneshwar Molak would talk on various schemes under urban community development while acting health chief S T Pardeshi would speak on the responsibilities of the PMC in the health sector. Legal advisor Manjusha Idhate would discuss the handling of legal matter of the PMC.
