Two get life imprisonment for murder

Various courts in the city pronounced six convictions this week,including two life imprisonments for murder.

In the first case of life imprisonment,additional sessions judge W K Sangale convicted Ajay Arjun Manji (20) for the murder of Sudhan Tippan Manji (23) who had eaten his share of non-vegetarian food. Ajay Manji had killed Sudhan with a spade in 2010. Both The court sentenced Manji to life imprisonment and imposed fine of Rs 500.

In the second case of murder,additional sessions judge S P Kurhekar gave Balu (31) alias Vishwanath Jagannath Shete from Bhor life imprisonment for murder of his neighbour Vitthal Anantrao Shirgaonkar (30) in 2010.

In the third conviction,chief judicial magistrate N T Ghadge sentenced Canara Bank,Ramwadi branch,accounts officer Vidyadhar Sharad Tilak to three-year rigorous imprisonment and fined him Rs 1.25 lakh for duping the bank of Rs 28.02 lakh by opening a false account and depositing money there.

In the fourth case,criminal Somnath Dhotre (33) of Wadarwadi and his accomplice Rupesh Mandal (25) were sentenced to seven-year RI and slapped a fine of Rs 1,000 each for robbing a couple of cash,cellphones,ornaments and motorcycle,all worth Rs 1 lakh,in 2006,on NDA Road.

In the last case,judicial magistrate S M Padalikar sentenced Hemant Nivrutti Khandagale (21) to six-month rigorous imprisonment and slapped a fine of Rs 1,000 for stealing a two-wheeler.
