Treat missing kids as kidnapping cases: Pol

Pune police commissioner Gulabrao Pol on Friday issued an order saying that if the age of a minor who has gone missing is 14 years or below,it should be treated as a case of kidnapping.

He has given a direction that such offences be registered and probed accordingly.

The order comes after a Government Regulation (GR) in this regard was issued on April 10.

As per the order,senior inspectors at the police stations will have to monitor investigations of such cases. According to the data obtained from police,in 2013 until March 31,as many as 708 persons including 87 boys and 123 girls went missing. Of them,325 persons including 47 boys and 74 girls were traced. As many as 383 persons including 40 boys and 49 girls are still missing.

In 2012,as many as 4,598 persons including 526 boys and 776 girls had gone missing. Of them,3,156 persons including 392 boys and 575 girls were traced.

As many as 1,442 persons including 134 boys and 201 girls are still to be traced.
