To increase solar power use,PMC for tie-up with MEDA

The Pune Municipal Corporation administration has proposed a tie-up with Maharashtra Energy Development Agency to turn the city into a solar power hub by use of solar energy for 10 per cent of the power consumption by the civic body.

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) administration has proposed a tie-up with Maharashtra Energy Development Agency (MEDA) to turn the city into a solar power hub by use of solar energy for 10 per cent of the power consumption by the civic body. While tabling the proposal before the city improvement committee,the PMC said it needs to appoint MEDA to prepare a detailed report for making maximum use of solar energy. “The target would be to have 10 per cent power through solar energy by using it in schools,hospitals,auditoriums,gardens,streets and offices,” the report stated.

Government fund will also be allocated for implementing the project.
