Three IT firm employees killed in Amba Ghat road mishap

Three employees of an IT firm in Pune were killed and their seven colleagues injured after a car they were travelling in fell into a rivulet at Amba Ghat on Kolhapur-Ratnagiri Road on Saturday.

Three employees of an IT firm in Pune were killed and their seven colleagues injured after a car they were travelling in fell into a rivulet at Amba Ghat on Kolhapur-Ratnagiri Road on Saturday.

The deceased have been identified as Prateek Chakravarti (32) from Kolkata,Mohanish Damanage (32) from Nagpur,and Soyal Jain (26) of Madhya Pradesh.

According to Shahuwadi police,which comes under Kolhapur district jurisdiction,10 employees of an IT firm based in Camp area left for a picnic from Pune to Konkan around 8.30 am. “Around 3 pm they halted at Malkapur and then continued their journey via Amba Ghat. At a sharp turn near Talwade village,driver Shrikant Raut lost control of the car and it fell about 30 feet down into a rivulet,” said Assistant Police Inspector M A Koli.

Koli added,“Before the car plunged into the rivulet,two of the occupants fell out of the car on the road and died on the spot .”

He said the injured were rushed to Malkapur Rural Hospital and are said to be out of danger.The bodies of the deceased have been handed over to the families after autopsy,he added.
