A 19-year-old employee of a toddy shop was arrested on Saturday for allegedly killing a labourer. According to the police,the victim, Anil Shantaram Shinde,had got into an argument with the suspect,Santosh Chavan at the toddy shop in Nashik Phata.
Shinde was a resident of Shinde Chawl in Kasarwadi. He was a regular at the licensed toddy shop,the police said.
Assistant inspector Prabhakar Pawar of Bhosari police station said,On Friday,Shinde went to the shop and consumed around six bottles of toddy. An inebriated Shinde then broke some bottles and damaged property of the shop. He returned on Saturday,asking for his wallet and money.
Chavan confronted Shinde and said he did not have his wallet. The two then got into an argument, Pawar said. According to eyewitnesses,Chavan pushed Shinde,who fell and suffered a head injury. He died on the way to the hospital,police said.
