Louis Braille Day Celebrated

The Poona School and Home for Blind Trust celebrated Louis Braille Day on January 21. The Amway Opportunity Foundation (AOF) organised a Braille reading and writing competition and a singing competition for 70 students of the Poona School and Home for Blind Trust. Singer Sandeep Ubale of Indian Idol fame put up a special performance for the students. Students from from Junior KG to Standard X participated in the competitions,which included singing,Braille Reading in Hindi,English and Marathi,dictation and essay writing on topics like ‘Louis Braille’,’Traffic & Road Safety’ and ‘My Favourite Leader’.

Students Reunite

Sinhgad Technical Education Society’s Sinhgad Institute of Management organised its annual alumni meet – ENCORE 2012 on Saturday,January 21 at its Vadgoan Campus. About 800-1000 students from the batch of 1994 to 2011 attended the function. The event comprised a welcome address by Dr Vilas Nandodekar,director,MCA; director Dr Rupali Jain,who spoke about the objectives of the meet. Sangram Kadam,president of the Alumni Association announced the opening of a new alumni chapter at Mumbai. The institute has several alumni working abroad who will now be connected through a website which was recently launched. The website will carry a newsletter to help them connect with the institute. Dr Z S Mulla,chief coordinator of the Alumni Meet,gave the vote of thanks.
