Author Shashikant Sathaye,ex-professor of Communication Design at the Sir JJ Institute of Applied Art,Mumbai released his book,Signs for Life- Social Responsibilities of Design,recently. The book was released at the hands of artist Ravi Paranjape. Through the book the author aims to create pictorial solutions for effective communication. Talking about the book,Sathaye says,”We live in a country with divers languages and cultures. These create barriers on the street that design can help overcome.”

Drive for a Cause

With the aim of raising funds for building schools for underprivileged children,Round Table India,Pune,in association with Poona Blind Men Association,is organising a Blind Men’s Car Drive on Sunday,April 8. Dilip Chhabaria,Indian Automobile Designer will flag off the 65 kms’ time speed distance drive from Phoenix Market City Mall at 8 am. Visually impaired persons will act as the navigators and will read out directions written in braille. The participant will have to follow these directions and make his way around the designated route in the prescribed time and speed.
