Manasi Munj beat Yamini Meherally and defended her top seeding in both youth singles and womens singles in the Late Sudesh Shelar table tennis trophy 2013. Munj,a science student at Fergusson College,plays in Sharada Sports Centre under the guidance of Upendra Mulye.
Munj was hardly troubled in the tournament which was evident from the fact that she comfortably led both the youth singles and the womens singles by a 2-1 and 3-0 margin. Munj went on to win 4-2 in both the categories. In the womens singles,though Meherally was in aggressive form,Munj was successful in absorbing the pressure and did well to hit back on the counter.
Akshay Deshpande won the title in the mens singles. Deshpande,who is self-coached,beat Atul Bapat,the fifth seed by a 11-9,11-5,11-0 scoreline.
Advait Brahme,seeded third,beat Neel Joshi,the top seed to earn three titles. Brahme won two junior titles and one youth title. In the final of the youth boys category,Brahme triumphed 6-11,8-11,11-8,11-9,18-16,9-11,11-8 in a marathon match.
