Symbiosis staff donates day’s salary for Uttarakhand flood relief

Teaching and non-teaching staff of Symbiosis International University on Monday donated their day’s salary towards Uttarakhand relief fund.

Teaching and non-teaching staff of Symbiosis International University on Monday donated their day’s salary amounting to Rs 20 lakh towards Uttarakhand relief fund. Symbiosis founder S B Mujumdar and principal director Dr Vidya Yeravdekar handed over the amount to Maharashtra Governor K Sankaranarayanan at Raj Bhavan in Mumbai.”The Governor expressed gratitude towards Symbiosis and said more and more educational groups should emulate the initiative and help flood-hit people of Uttarakhand,” said a release issued by Symbiosis.

Boy run over by speeding car

Samarth Sanjay Pawar,7,a resident of Dudulgaon in Haveli tehsil,was run over by a speeding car while he was playing near his house around 1 pm on Sunday. Inspector (Crime) T B Gopne said,“Based on what the witnesses have told us,the registration number of the car is MH-12-GR-7370. We have launched a search for the driver and the car.” Police have registered a case of death caused due to negligence and rash driving.

Burglar flees from court premises

A burglar,who was being produced by the police before a Khadki court for seeking his remand,fled from the court premises on Monday. Mahesh Bhalerao was arrested in a burglary case. “He pushed aside the constable who was escorting him to the court and fled. We are trying to locate him,” said inspector Nishikant Bhujbal.
