Symbiosis International University (SIU) has been recognised as international fellow of Szent Istvan University,Hungary for its work in international education.
Dr SB Mujumdar,founder-director of Symbiosis and Dr Vidya Yerawadekar,principal-director of Symbiosis were presented with a citation and gold medal on Thursday. This will help us in connecting with other European educational institutions, Yerawadekar said.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was also signed between the two varsities for student and faculty exchange and joint research. Mahesh Singh,director,Szent Istvan University and Dr Mujumdar signed the MoU. The universities would also be engaged in constitution of a joint scholarship funding,whereby students from both countries will be given financial aid.
While Istvan University already has such a funding system in place,we are looking to set up one that will take care of the students tuition fees, Yerawadekar said. While Symbiosis will be sending undergraduate students of business management,law,IT,engineering and media,the Hungarian university is keen on sending students of economics,business management and IT to Symbiosis.
The exchange programme is expected to start from June.
