Surge in burglaries,goods,cash worth Rs 6 lakh stolen in a week

Six house break-ins were recorded in the city this week in which valuables and cash totalling approximately Rs 6 lakh were stolen.

Six house break-ins were recorded in the city this week in which valuables and cash totalling approximately Rs 6 lakh were stolen. No arrests have been made in any of the break-ins yet.

In the first incident,Rahul Raut (52) from Dhone-Nahar complex in Katraj has registered a complaint with Bharati Vidyapeeth police station. He stated that his flat was broke-in between 10 am to 3 pm on Tuesday when it was locked and Rs 3 lakh worth gold ornaments were stolen. The flats of two other persons in the same complex -Babasaheb Dhashrath Sarovar (A wing) and Ashok Dnyanoba Pasalkar (C wing) were also broken into with intentions of theft. However,nothing was stolen from these flats.

Another dacoity was reported in Varadashree Apartment in Varadayini society on Sus road. Tapas Ranjandas Radhakrishna Das (36) has filed a complaint with Chatushrungi police station in this regard.

According to the complaint,unidentified persons entered his flat on Tuesday night and stole Rs 2,500 cash,a camera and jewelery worth Rs 1.84 lakh. In a similar incident,another flat in Sheetal Niwas,Tapkir nagar,Sanghvi was broken into.

The thieves also broke the locker and stole cash and jewelery worth Rs 1.28 lakh. Jalinder Bhad (56) has registered a complaint with Sanghvi police station stating the incident must have taken place on Wednesday night.

In a separate incident,some unidentified persons tried to break into a post office located in Shrivihar Siddhivinayak Nagari,sector 27,Nigdi. A complaint was filed at Nigdi police station by Sushma Vasantrao Kadam (52). According to her complaint,the thieves had cut through the window grills from behind the post office in an attempt to steal.

It was only a day ago that a 62-year-old woman in Kothrud was murdered by thieves who broke into her flat in Mayur Colony,Kothurd.
