Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner Shrikar Pardeshi, rumours of whose transfer are rife in the city, has been receiving growing support through online campaigns launched against his possible removal from the civic body. He has also got the backing of social activists, including Anna Hazare and a section of political parties.
An online petition campaign launched in support of staying the likely transfer of Pardeshi has been signed by more than 900 individuals, while a Facebook community “Lets support good governance — support Dr Shrikar Pardeshi” started in support of municipal commissioner has received more than 1,130 likes.
People even from outside Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad, from across different parts of the state, have been voicing their support for Pardeshi, who has just completed tenure of around 18 months as municipal commissioner.
“We are proud of you Sir… We support you, we salute your work…” says Dilip Rathod, a teacher posted at Sagroli in Nanded district, where Pardeshi was posted before coming to Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), has commented on the Facebook community page.
Hazare, in a letter to the chief minister on Friday, warned of an agitation if Pardeshi gets removed from his post. Hazare’s office said no official response was received to the letter till Saturday evening.
Dr Shrikar Pardeshi has been doing a good work as Commissioner of PCMC for the past two years.He has helped improve the efficiency of the entire bureaucratic structure of PCMC and tried to ensure that each citizen is benefited. The SARTHI Helpline that he initiated has been widely appreciated not only by the citizens but also by various political leaders, social activists and eminent citizens all over India.
