Super XI overcame Rajesh Pillay Academy in a close match,while Rakshak SC drew with Hockey Lovers in the Late Devdas Shetty Memorial third monsoon league tournament. The tournament is being played at the Major Dhyan Chand hockey stadium.
In the opening match of the day,Super XI drew first blood through Niketan Adagle,who scored in the seventh minute. Santhosh Musales weaving run down the centre allowed Adagle to find space in the striking circle and he deftly converted Musales pass to give his side the lead.
Vinay Walmiki equalized for Rajesh Pillay Academy in the 16th minute,but Vipin Bhatts 32nd minute strike put his side in the lead. Nitin Kumar restored parity in the 37th minute as he swept in a Walmiki centre. However,Shrikant Bhokhares goal in the 39th minute ensured that Super XI walked away with full points.
In the last match of the day,Rakshak SC took on Hockey Lovers and seemed to be cruising to victory on the back of twin-strikes by Swapnil Patil. The striker scored his first in the 38th minute as he converted a Aditya Pawar pass. Barely a minute later,Patil increased the margin as he drilled home a Rahul Zore pass.
Hockey Lovers though seemed to press on undettered and were soon rewarded for their efforts. Pranay Garsund scored in the 45th minute and Swapnil Garsund drew his side level just one minute later as he turned in a fierce Pranay Garsund pass.
On Wednesday,Railway Boys Club will take on SRPF while Prakash Sapkal Academy will face Metro SC. Vikram Pillay Academy will battle Prabhakar Aspat Academy in the third match of the day.
