At the convocation of the 124th Course of the NDA on Thursday,the Chief of Army Staff trophy was bagged by cadet Gaurav Kumar for topping the science course.
The Chief of Air Staff trophy went to cadet Aman Thakur for ranking first in social science and the Admirals trophy was bagged by cadet J S Suman for topping in BSc computer science. Chief of Naval Staff trophy for standing first in overall order of merit was bagged by cadet J S Suman.
Governor K Sankaranarayanan was the chief guest at the ceremony.
As many as 291 cadets including four foreign cadets were awarded degrees by Jawaharlal Nehru University. NDA commandant Air Marshal K S Gill spoke on the academic achievements of the 124th course and highlighted the recent reforms in syllabi at the Academy. Keeping in view the growing complexities of 4G warfare and its variegated forms,which we are heading for in future; there is a greater need to be in sync with time. Therefore,the syllabi with additional input of 15 Defence Application Courses (10 for Sc and Comp Sc + 5 for Social Science) have been updated.
Vyas Library has been enriched with additional e-resources. In order to go ahead with Smart Learning initiative of the Academy,the library is gradually getting digitised. RFID systems,e-learning material have been put in place. physics and chemistry departments are being made up-to-date. Another laboratory has been added to the computer science department. Smart Boards are going to be introduced in classrooms from the next term onward, a press release issued by the NDA quoted Gill as saying.
