The Regional Transport Office,Pune has invited applications for new two wheeler series for special numbers. The vehicle owners who wish to get a number from the two wheeler series for a four wheeler,needs to submit their applications on March 4 and 5.
Gopal Dengle,assistant regional transport officer said,Applications with demand drafts have been invited for the new series. Priority is given to applications for four wheelers from the two wheeler series as the revenue generated from them is three times that of the two wheeler. For instance,if one is giving Rs 25,000 for a particular two wheeler number,for a four wheeler it would be Rs 1,00,000 and for a number from the two wheeler series to a four wheeler,the fee will be close to Rs 3,00,000.
RTO officials said the fees in the special number category depends on the what number an applicant chooses. And if there are more than one application for a particular number,then the numbers are allotted by a lottery system. On an average,up to Rs 25 lakh is generated on the first day of the lottery.
The lottery will be drawn on March 7 at 3:30pm at the RTO premises. If an applicant or his representatives are not present at the time of the lottery,then the application will be cancelled. The special number series for four wheelers is expected to start from the second week of March.
