Artistic Recognition
Veteran actor Vikram Gokhale was recently awarded the Vocational Excellence Award for his invaluable contribution to Marathi and Hindi cinema and theatre and for his participation in various social activities by Rotary Club. Gokhale was felicitated by Mukundrao Abhyankar,Ashok Gadgil,president of Rotary Club,C D Mahajan,Chandrashekhar Yardi were present for the programme. Earlier,Vikram Gokhale had conducted an acting workshop for sixty members of the Rotary Club,where he gave them special training in stage movements,body language,different expressions and speech techniques.

Sound of Trance
The city is fast becoming a hotbed for trance music,with a number of artistes from all over the world dropping in for Puneites to groove to their beats. This Sunday,Gidi Snapir,who is better known as Quantum,will be performing at Stone Water Grill. One of the leading DJs in the trance genre,Quantum has released three albums and will be releasing his fourth album,Expose ,this month. The Israeli artiste is also famous for launching Newzeek ,Isreal’s first and only Electronic music magazine. Quantum also produces electro-oriented tunes under the name of One Night Stand,and also also makes music with his wife Keren,a world music vocalist under the name Pay2Play.

A sparkling affair
Actress Dipali Syed was in the city to inaugurate the first showroom of SuwarnaSparsh Gems and Jewellery in Pimpri in a glittering ceremony recently. The three storeyed showroom situated at JN Road,Sai Chowk,saw directors Vimal Patel and Subhash Shinde, present on the occassion. Vimal Patel,director of SuwarnaSparsh Gems and Jewellery said that the company will cater to those customers who cannot afford to buy gold and will make light jewellery items that will suit their pockets. The showroom has on display jewellery items like necklaces,bangles,rings,mangalsutras,chains and forming jewellery.
