Shrivas wins football talent hunt

Parag Shrivas was crowned the winner at the zonal finale of the fourth edition of the Bajaj Allianz Junior Football Camp on Sunday.

Parag Shrivas was crowned the winner at the zonal finale of the fourth edition of the Bajaj Allianz Junior Football Camp on Sunday. Shrivas was selected amongst 55 finalists from West Zone to represent India at the international Allianz Junior Football Camp to be held in Munich,Germany,in association with FC Bayern Munich in August. The selection process for the camp started on June 15 with over 3,000 children from across 100 schools taking part in the competition.

In addition,the winning team from the finale was awarded a cash prize worth Rs 75,000. The winner,Shrivas,was selected on the basis of his superior football skills by an eminent panel of judges comprising Brahmanand Sankhwalkar,former India goalkeeper,and Arata Izumi,Indian international and Pune FC midfielder.

District badminton tourney starts today

As many as 550 participants will be seen in action in the Solaris Club District Badminton Non Ranking Tournament,2013 that begins today at the Mayur Colony courts. The open tournament to be held in five age groups —Under-11,Under-13,Under-15,Under-17 and Under-19 has attracted entries from all over Pune district.

The tournament,conducted under the aegis of district body PDMBA,forms a platform for unranked players to show their talent.
