Two short films – Shor and Sujata – directed by Neeraj Ghaywan and Shlok Sharma respectively will be showcased at the 10th Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles (IFFLA) which will be held at the ArcLight Hollywood from April 10-15. Tumbhi,an online portal developed by city-based Nihilent Technologies,is a talent showcase platform for photographers,writers,actors,models,singers,music composers,short film makers,lyricists and poets. In May 2011,it had launched Paanch,a script writing competition. ‘Shor’ and ‘Sujata’ are two of the scripts selected by Tumbhi for translating into short films. The films were made under the mentorship of Tumbhi advisor and ace film director,Anurag Kashyap. While Shor is based on a couple from Banaras consumed by the pursuit to survive in the seedy ghettos of Mumbai,Sujata,scripted by Annie Zaidi and directed by Sharma,tells the story of a woman who,after years of running and failing to escape,takes matters into her own hands when her childhood tormentor hunts her down. The line-up at IFFLA includes 33 features,documentaries and short films by filmmakers from Canada,Italy,India,Germany,South Africa,UK,and the US.
